Police working to identify an unknown cyclist who died after a medical incident in Swindon this evening are appealing for help from the public.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Hay Lane, near Lydiard Park, at around 8pm following a 999 call reporting that a man was in cardiac arrest at the roadside.
Despite the best efforts of members of the public – quickly backed up by ambulances crews, Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Great Western Air Ambulance – he was pronounced dead.
Talking to Wiltshire 999s at the scene, a specialist roads policing officer said they urgently want to hear from anyone who may be able to help identify the male cyclist. He is believed to be in his 50s and was wearing cycling clothing but was not in possession of a mobile phone or wallet.
Anyone with information should contact Wiltshire Police on 101 immediately.
