A crime scene is in place at a Wiltshire nature reserve as police ‘search for a firearm’.
It follows the raid at an address in Rosemary Way, Melksham, at around 5pm on Monday (4 September), where two people were arrested.
Both suspects, a man and woman aged in their 20s, were held in custody on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Searches of the address were carried out on Tuesday (5 September), with a section of Clackers Brook cordoned off at nearby Primrose Nature Reserve.
It’s believed specialist search officers are due to comb the area for evidence today (Wednesday) — maybe in hope of locating the weapon involved.
The scene was first put in place yesterday afternoon, and was guarded by officers overnight.
Both suspects have since been released on bail.
At this stage, it’s not yet clear what incident prompted the raid and subsequent arrests.
In a statement yesterday, Wiltshire Police said: “Officers attended an address in Rosemary Way, Melksham, at approximately 5pm yesterday and arrested two people – a man and woman both in their 20s on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Enquiries are currently ongoing.”
