A car crashed into a garden wall in a 20mph zone in Westbury yesterday afternoon.
Police officers were called to reports of a single-vehicle road traffic collision on Sandalwood Road at around 5.30pm on Sunday (13 March).
A Peugeot was found to have left the road and crashed into a garden wall between the junctions of Dartmoor Road and Exmoor Road.
The incident happened just a short distance from Westbury Leigh Church of England Primary School, with some parents concerned the vehicle may have been speeding before the crash.
On Spotted Westbury, one local resident claims she was due to take her young children for a walk on Sunday, with the collision being on her return route time.
“I think it’s important that people see what can happen when people don’t observe the speed limit or drive sensibly”, she said.
Continuing, the mum-of-two added: “We live just round the corner and were planning on taking our two small children for a walk yesterday, returning around the time this happened on that path.
“Luckily they decided they’d rather play indoors, otherwise we could have found ourselves crushed against a wall.
“This is the main route to and from the primary school and the surrounding houses are mainly occupied by families with young children. This should serve as a reminder as to why the 20mph speed limit is in place.
“It’s lucky no one was hurt or even killed.”
Wiltshire Police says no arrests were made, and no offences have been identified at this stage.
“No injuries were reported and recovery of the vehicle was organised” by officers, the force confirmed.
