A woman’s body found next to a river in Lacock as sparked a major police probe.
Emergency services were called to an incident near to Lacock Abbey shortly after 11pm on Thursday (13 August).
A woman, aged in her 40s, was found deceased. She was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to a witness, there were around six police vehicles, two fire engines and numerous ambulances on scene at the height of the initial response.
This morning (Friday) approximately six detectives were in attendance alongside two forensics officers – with part of the river cordoned off.

Within the taped off area, there was a white and blue tent. It appeared to be the focus of the investigation.
Wiltshire Police say that enquiries are ongoing, and the woman’s death is currently being treated as unexplained.
