A woman has been hospitalised after a blaze broke out in a Swindon home.
Emergency services responded to reports of a fire at a three-storey property in Westlecot Road in Old Town at around 8pm on Tuesday (12 November).
Seven fire crews – from Swindon, Stratton, Westlea, Royal Wootton Bassett and Marlborough – attended the incident.
A 51-year-old woman was initially treated for smoke inhalation by firefighters at the scene, and taken to hospital by paramedics a short time later.
“On arrival, firefighters found a fire within the kitchen, first-floor bedroom and roof space of the three-storey building”, a spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
They added: ““Four breathing apparatus wearers used one main jet and one hose reel jet to tackle the fire which had also spread to the roof space.
“A further two breathing apparatus wearers were deployed to the neighbouring property to monitor the roof space and protect the property from fire spread.
“One 51-year-old female was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene by crews until the ambulance service were in attendance and conveyed to hospital.
“Our stop was in at 07:42am today and a reinspection will take place at 11am this morning.”
