A Swindon man has been named and charged after a paedophile hunter sting.
The suspect was confronted by members of a group who hunt alleged sex offenders online in the Park North area on Sunday (30 August).
It’s claimed the man, Martin Leighfield, had been communicating with what he believed to be two children – young girls – on social media.
The 67-year-old was swiftly arrested by Wiltshire Police officers following the sting and taken into custody for questioning.
The defendant, of Dulverton Avenue, has since been charged and remanded in custody to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday).
He faces two charges of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child.
The charges relate to Leighfield allegedly discussing meeting and performing sexual acts on a girl, and asking for photographs.
