Uber Eats has ‘taken action’ against a worker who walked in on a woman getting dressed while delivering an order in Corsham.
The incident happened as the driver arrived at an address in Katherine Park with the customer’s Co-op shop on Thursday (4 September).
It’s claimed the man entered the woman’s property and stood at the bottom of the stairs – while calling up to her as she got dressed.
The concerning event left the customer ‘shaken’, with a report made to Uber Eats.
She said: ‘I was upstairs getting dressed [when] I heard someone shouting up and as I came to the [top of] the stairs, he was already inside my house.
‘This left me scared as I have mental health and disability issues; it’s left me feeling really worried and shaken up.’
As an apology, Uber Eats refunded the customer’s order in full. It’s also taken action to avoid the woman being paired up with the same delivery driver for any future orders.
A spokesperson for the firm said that the “safety of everyone who uses our platform is a top priority” and confirmed that “appropriate action has been taken against the courier”.
They added: “Any reports of a safety incident are investigated thoroughly and we have a dedicated support team who is available 24/7.
“All couriers who use the Uber Eats app must complete background checks and follow our Community Guidelines.”
Uber Eats said that action would be taken against any workers found to have breached the guidelines set out, or who act unlawfully. They face being removed from the platform.
