The police have recovered a missing dog’s body after a person was killed on the train tracks near Royal Wootton Bassett.
Emergency services were called to a casualty on the railway line near Junction 16 shortly after 2.30pm this afternoon (Easter Sunday).
Police, fire and ambulance crews attended but the injured person was declared dead. Great Western Air Ambulance landed nearby, but the team were quickly stood down.

While on scene, the body of a dog – confirmed as a missing Rottweiler named Nala – was located in the vicinity. She had also been struck by a train, some time after disappearing from a farm off A3102 Swindon Road.
The British Transport Police told Wiltshire 999s that “a deceased dog was also found” by officers in attendance, and was “safely recovered”.
They added that the animal was “not involved” in the incident involving a person being struck by a train, and the pet had not been with the deceased.

In an update, Nala’s owner said: ‘I’ve just found Nala. She was hit by a train, my worst nightmare.
‘We heard the train horn and heard the hit.
“Thank you, everybody for trying for me. At least I was the one that found her.’
