A man has been ‘repeatedly stabbed’ in an attack in Swindon town centre.
Emergency services were called to the serious assault in Station Road at around 5.30pm this afternoon (Wednesday).
Eyewitnesses claim a man knifed another man in the upper arm up to five times on the junction with Bridge Street, leaving him with gaping wounds.
Police flooded the area and cordoned off the crime scene – with four detectives from Swindon CID arriving at the incident at around 6pm.
The victim – a man aged in his 30s – was rushed to hospital for further treatment, with two police vehicles escorting.
Wiltshire 999s spoke to a number of people who saw the attack take place – with all confirming a small knife was pulled on the victim during an altercation between the pair.
Station Road, Bridge Street and Sheppard Street remain open to traffic and pedestrians.
UPDATE: In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “Officers responded to a reported stabbing at 5.46pm in Station Road, Swindon this evening (23/10).
“A man in his 30s was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries which are not life changing or life threatening.
“There were no arrests made at the scene and our enquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dash cam footage is asked to call us on 101 quoting log 266 of today’s date (23/10).
“In an emergency please call 999.”
