A man has been arrested after a victim was ‘struck with a machete’ in Trowbridge.
Emergency services were called to the knife attack near Santander in Fore Street at around 6.45pm yesterday evening (Monday, 18 March).
A man, whose age has not been revealed, sustained a slice wound – reportedly to his head – during an assault with a blade, believed to be a machete.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment. Police say his injuries aren’t thought to be life-threatening.
Officers cordoned off a number of roads for over two hours – including Silver Street, Park Road, Market Street, Fore Street – as forensic work was carried out at the scene.
The suspected knifeman, a 43-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in police custody.
In a statement, Wiltshire Police added: “Members of the public may notice an increased police presence, with extra patrols being mounted in the area.
