A huge ambulance response to a traveller site was for ‘people with minor injuries’, police say.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance and two crews from Great Western Air Ambulance were tasked to a caravan park in Thingley, near Corsham, at around 6.40pm yesterday evening (22 January).
Four ambulances, two ambulance cars and a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) crew from Bristol were also called to the incident.
Armed police officers cleared the site to ensure it was safe, as more than 15 ambulance staff waited at a designated RV point in the Chequers Hill area.
Wiltshire Police has this morning (Monday) confirmed that several people sustained minor injuries, with only one person requiring hospital treatment.
The force said they were called to a “disorder”, but refused to confirm what information provided in the initial call warranted such a significant emergency response.
“Several people have suffered reportedly minor injuries and one woman in her 20s suffered a cut which required hospital treatment”, a spokesperson said.
Adding: “She was then arrested on suspicion of affray. Our enquiries are ongoing.”
The National Police Air Service helicopter from Bournemouth was also tasked with the incident – circling the site for around 45 minutes with its spotlight shining down.
