A gunman has shot at a home belonging to a former Premier League footballer in Swindon.
Police were called to the property in Watermead, Stratton, at around 8.15pm last night (Tuesday, 13 December) following reports of a firearm being discharged.
The police helicopter from Bournemouth and a dog unit were deployed in the area. A large crime scene was put in place until around 1pm today (Wednesday), when police left the scene.
The address is home to Fitzroy Simpson, who played in the Premier League for Manchester City 1992–1995. He previously played for Swindon Town Football Club.
The 52-year-old, who also represented Jamaica internationally, was born in Bradford-on-Avon and retired from football in 2008.

The detached home was cordoned off whilst detectives carried out enquiries at the scene, supported by a specialist search dog.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Police were called to an address in Stratton shortly after 8.15pm yesterday evening (13/12) following reports of what was believed to be a firearm being discharged in the area.
“Firearms officers attended and extensive area searches and house to house enquiries were conducted.
“Enquiries remain ongoing. No firearms were located.
“Anyone with information is urged to call 101 and quote log number 279 of December 13.”
