LATEST: Teen arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Swindon stabbing
A teenage boy has been stabbed in an attack in Swindon this evening (Thursday).
Police said a 17-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries in the knife assault on Meadowcroft Fields, Upper Stratton, shortly after 8pm.
The casualty was airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol by Wiltshire Air Ambulance – where he is receiving urgent care.
The police helicopter was called in to assist officers on the ground, circling Old Town before hovering over Pinehurst, Penhill and Kingsdown.
Detectives are present on the fields, where a large crime scene was put in place. The area is being guarded by numerous uniformed PCs and PCSOs.
George Scarrott and Sons’ Family Fun Fair was on at the time of the stabbing, but management closed it down as soon as they were aware of events unfolding across the field. There’s nothing to suggest the incident is connected with the fair.
