A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in Swindon.
The 15-year-old is being held in custody following his arrest this morning (Friday) as detectives probe the near-fatal wounding of a male in Meadowcroft Fields yesterday (Thursday 8 June).
The victim, a 17-year-old boy, remains in a serious condition in hospital and forensic investigation work is ongoing at the scene.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers have been conducting extensive enquiries overnight and have this morning arrested a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder.
“He is being taken to Gablecross custody for questioning.
“Since the incident took place, a section 60 order was put in place covering much of the town and HIghworth for 24 hours. This allows officers to stop and search anyone in a specific area without needs to have reasonable grounds.
“Anyone with information on the incident should call 101 and quote log number 344 of June 8.”
