A teenage boy has been arrested after flipping a car in the countryside near Swindon.
The 17-year-old driver reportedly failed to stop for a police officer in the Salthrop area before crashing a short time later, at around 12.30pm on Monday (10 March).
According to Wiltshire Police, he was “seen driving at high speed” in Hay Lane “shortly before losing control of his vehicle” – believed to be a Peugeot.
“I thought he was going to hit me when they went past”, a witness told Wiltshire 999s.
Following the smash, officers arrested the teenager on suspicion of careless driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance and without a licence.
Due to minor injuries sustained in the incident, the boy was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The road was closed in both directions for around two hours as police and ambulance attended, and the wrecked car was recovered.
