Newborn baby dies at house in Swindon as Wiltshire Police launch probe

A newborn baby has died at a house in Swindon, prompting a police investigation.

Wiltshire Police says it’s probing the death, which occurred at a property in The Holbeins, Grange Park, on Monday (1 August).

Emergency services first attended the scene in the early hours of the morning, with paramedics calling police to the incident after the baby was pronounced deceased.

The death is being treated as unexplained at this time, meaning an investigation is ongoing to establish the cause of death.

A force spokesperson confirmed that “enquiries are ongoing”, and that the “death is currently being treated as unexplained”.

A crime scene has been in place at the address since the early hours of Monday morning, and remains in place today (Tuesday, 2 August).
