A new Chippenham police officer has seized a child’s scooter on his third shift.
Special police constable (SPC) Snell recently joined the force on a voluntary basis – and has the same powers as a paid officer.
After receiving reports from a member of the public about a teenager on using an illegal e-scooter in Chippenham last week, the officer lept into action.
The suspect was located and witnessed using the electric vehicle, and with support of their parents, it was seized.
It was SPC Snell’s third shift as a warranted police officer.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Special Constables based at Chippenham Response Team seized an E-Scooter from the streets of Chippenham last week.
“Special Police Constable (SPC) Snell on only his 3rd shift since becoming a police officer responded to reports from members of the public and witnessed the teenager illegally using the scooter.
“This was seized from them with the support of their parents.
“Volunteer officers will continue to support and respond to concerns from members of the public to take this vehicles off the streets.”
