A man launched a ‘planned and unprovoked’ assault on his victim in Marlborough, a court heard.
Jake Johnson-Atcherley, 21, attended a pool hall in the town on Monday (6 March) and violently laid into a male outside, kicking and kneeing him numerous times.
At Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (8 March), the defendant, of Laineys Close, Marlborough, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Pauline Lambert, prosecuting, said Johnson-Atcherley was on bail from Salisbury Crown Court at the time – awaiting sentence for a more serious offence of inflicting grievous bodily harm.
During his most recent attack, his victim sustained injuries to his head, nose and lip. The assault was said to have lasted around two or three minutes before the defendant ran away.
Ms Lambert asked for Johnson-Atcherley to be remanded in custody due to the attack taking place just three days after he pleaded guilty to the earlier incident – in which his other victim sustained a broken jaw and dislocated shoulder in what’s again described as being an unprovoked assault.
Charlotte Frizzell, defending, said that her client was suffering from mental health issues at the time and had not been taking his medication for “severe depression”.
She said he had been through “traumatic times in his life”, suffering from “significant physical abuse”. Ms Frizzell asked that he be bailed ahead of his upcoming sentencing hearing so he can seek support from his doctor.
Magistrates released Johnson-Atcherley on bail, with conditions to live and sleep at his Marlborough address and to be at home between 9pm and 6am daily (which will be GPS monitored).
The case will be sentenced alongside the other serious assault on 14 April at Salisbury Crown Court.
