A man is alleged to have deliberately driven his car into an elderly pedestrian near Calne.

Emergency services were called to the incident, whereby a man in his 70s was left injured, in Mile Elm at around 10.30am last Friday (3 June).

The victim had a verbal argument with a male driver of a vehicle, who is then believed to have deliberately driven at him – causing him to go up onto the bonnet of the car before falling to the ground.

The victim was taken to hospital with extensive cuts and bruises, but no serious injuries.

The motorist, who had been driving in the direction of Bromham before the incident occurred, left the scene in the direction of Calne.

PC Storm Brand said: “Since the incident happened we have been working hard to try to identify the vehicle involved and the driver responsible.

“However, we now need the public’s help and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“This was a frightening incident for the victim involved, and it goes without saying that it could very easily have left him with significant injuries.

“If you have any information then please come forward and speak to us.”

The driver is described as white, with brown or dark hair and believed to be aged in his 30s. He is believed to have been the sole occupant of the car.

We believe the car was a Lexus, due to witnesses seeing the logo on the vehicle, and also believe it was silver in colour, possibly with an index which began with MK71 or MK17.

If you were in the area at the time and have a dash cam, we are urgently requesting that members of the public review this to see if any useful footage has been captured which may help us in identifying the offender.

Similarly, if you witnessed this incident or have any information, please make contact on 101 and quote the reference number of 54220057090. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
