A serious incident in Swindon has sparked a large emergency response.
999 crews were called to the scene in Imber Walk, Penhill, at around 4pm today (Thursday).
Numerous ambulance vehicles, fire crews – including a rescue unit – and police are present.
Great Western Air Ambulance landed off Minety Road, as the charity’s medics rushed to help.
Ramsbury Avenue is currently blocked by emergency vehicles and a ‘police accident’ sign.
According to a local resident, the incident is medical-related – however, this has not yet been confirmed by the authorities.
UPDATE 6.45PM:
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service say they were called to provide assistant to the ambulance service at a medical incident.
A spokesperson confirmed that a “fire engine from Swindon and two technical rescue vehicles from Stratton were mobilised” to the scene.
Fire crews extracted a casualty from a property “using specialist technical rescue equipment”, leaving the scene shortly after 5pm.
Wiltshire 999s understands the patient was taken to Great Western Hospital by land ambulance, accompanied by Great Western Air Ambulance medics.
