A Trowbridge drug dealer who tried to flush cocaine and heroin down a toilet during a police raid has been jailed.

Christopher Mounty was arrested after officers executed a drugs warrant at a property in Yerbury Street, Trowbridge, in April.

The 43-year-old, of Lamplighters Walk, was found in possession of 27 grams of cocaine, 2.5 grams of crack cocaine and 55 grams of heroin.

Police said Mounty attempted to flush the drugs down the toilet, but officers managed to retrieve them before they disappeared.

He was charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and pleaded guilty before being remanded in custody.

Mounty appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Monday 24 August, where he was sentenced to five years and seven months in prison.

PC Oliver Dury, from the Neighbourhood Tasking Team, said: “The sentencing of Mounty sends a clear message that drug dealing will not be tolerated in our communities.

“The supply of Class A drugs causes significant harm, not only to those who use them, but to local residents who are affected by the anti-social behaviour, violence and exploitation that is often associated with drug supply.

“Our Neighbourhood Tasking Team and Neighbourhood Policing Teams work tirelessly to disrupt the supply of illegal drugs, identify those responsible and put them before the courts.

“We are committed to protecting our communities from the misery that drugs can cause and will continue to target those who seek to profit from the vulnerability of others.

“I’d also like to remind residents of the importance of community intelligence.

“Information provided by members of the public helps us build a clearer picture of criminal activity in our neighbourhoods and enables us to take positive action.

“We would encourage anyone with concerns about drug dealing in their area to report it to us, as even the smallest piece of information can make a significant difference.”
