A manhunt is under way after a driver failed to stop for police in the Forest of Dean before crashing into four vehicles and fleeing the scene.
The incident happened at around 12.20pm on Thursday (16 October) when officers attempted to stop a blue Volkswagen Scirocco travelling on the A48 in Alvington.
The vehicle was suspected to be linked to drug dealing, and police intelligence indicated the driver did not hold a valid driving licence.
The male driver failed to stop, prompting a police pursuit. During the chase, he collided with four other vehicles, causing damage to bodywork and wing mirrors. No injuries were reported.
A short time later, the driver crashed in Sedbury and made off from the scene on foot.
Officers, supported by the National Police Air Service (NPAS), the Dog Unit, and Gwent Police, carried out a search of the area but were unable to locate him.
The Volkswagen was abandoned and later searched by police, who discovered a quantity of Class B drugs, along with scales and other drug-related paraphernalia. These items were seized, and the vehicle was taken for forensic examination.
Enquiries are ongoing, and officers are appealing for information to help identify the driver.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary said: “We’re asking anyone who saw the driver of the blue Volkswagen Scirocco, or knows where he might be, to contact us.
“We’re also keen to hear from anyone who has dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area at the time of the incident.”
