A motorcyclist has been airlifted after a serious crash near an M4 junction in Swindon.
Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A3102 Swindon Road at around 3.30pm today (Sunday).
The incident, which happened just off Junction 16 and close to North Wiltshire Crematorium, involved a motorcycle and a car.
The biker has been airlifted by Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment.
The road is shut in both directions between Junction 16 and Royal Wootton Bassett – and closures are likely to remain in place for some hours.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “A closure is currently in place at the Spittleborough Roundabout at Junction 16 of the M4 in Swindon following a collision involving two vehicles which occurred at around 3.30pm today (12/07).
“Please avoid the area and seek an alternative route while emergency services attend the scene.”
