Dozens of firefighters are currently tackling a major blaze on Salisbury Plain.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) were called to the incident this afternoon (7 July).
At least six fire appliances can be spotted attending the scene north of Shrewton, at Westdown Camp.
The flames are expected to rage on for a significant amount of time — possibly days
A DWFRS spokesperson said: “Firefighters were called at 5.25pm this afternoon to a fire on Salisbury Plain, near Shrewton.
”We currently have approximately 50 firefighters on scene.
”They are trying to extinguish the fire using hose reels and beaters.
”We’re advising residents to keep windows and doors closed, we know it’s warm out but this is to prevent smoke and fumes being inhaled.”
