A suspected moped thief has escaped after a pursuit through a park in Chippenham.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle on the A350 in the Lacock area on Monday afternoon (28 September) – with the rider failing to stop and passing red traffic lights.
Traffic officers initiated a pursuit, following the moped – which was suspected to have been stolen – into Chippenham.
The chase continued into the south of the town, across Kingsley Park and into Southmead.
The rider managed to escape officers through an alleyway, abandoning the vehicle in Chelwood Close and reportedly making off on foot.
The moped was seized and recovered, and an investigation is ongoing.
