An electric scooter is to be destroyed after being seized in Westbury.
Wiltshire Police say that officers from the neighbourhood team took hold of the illegal motor vehicle in Hackney Way on 23 December.
In a statement, a force spokesperson said: “Privately owned electric scooters are illegal to use on public roads, footpaths and bridleways, and their use is contrary to the Road Traffic Act 1988.
“Riders do not have the required insurance, licence or vehicle approval to use them lawfully.”
The electric scooter was seized under Section 165A of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and will be crushed as a result.
They added: “This act allows Police officers to seize a motor vehicle found not to have insurance. The scooter will be destroyed.
“This should serve as a reminder, not to use electric scooters on public roads or footpaths. We will continue to take enforcement action to keep pedestrians and other road users safe.”
