UPDATE: Man arrested after ploughing car through Trowbridge restaurant windows
A driver ploughed his car through the front of a restaurant in Trowbridge last night.
Emergency services were called to the dramatic smash in Stallard Street at around 10pm yesterday (17 January).
A small red car effectively drove through the front of Davana Thai, located on the roundabout with Bythesea Road.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said it sent a crew from Trowbridge to the incident.
A spokesperson confirmed the firefighters “only had to make the scene safe” and “nobody was trapped”.
They added that “the structural integrity of the building was unaffected” by the road traffic collision – despite two large windows being completely destroyed.
The male driver reportedly left the scene but was swiftly tracked down by police officers. It’s not clear, at this stage, whether any arrests were made.
