A man has been arrested after a vehicle crashed into a restaurant last night (17 January).
Emergency services were called to Davana Thai in Stallard Street shortly after 10pm, where driver caused “extensive damage” to the front of the building.
A red Citroen C3 crashed through the front window, but nobody was injured.
When officers arrived it was reported that the driver and passengers had decamped and fled the scene in the direction of the railway station.
Extensive searches were conducted and a man, in his 20s from Bradford-on-Avon, was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive through drink or drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.
Wiltshire Police say the male is currently in Melksham custody for further questioning and enquiries are ongoing.
