An air ambulance was scrambled after five people – including two children – were injured in a crash in Wiltshire on Bonfire Night.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on the A338 just north of Downton, near Salisbury, at around 8pm on Wednesday evening (5 November).
Three vehicles were involved in the incident, with one flipping in dramatic scenes that sparked a significant 999 response amid firework displays overhead.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, four double-crewed ambulances and a paramedic officer were tasked alongside two fire crews and the police.
Firefighters worked to rescue three people who were trapped inside vehicles before making the scene safe, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.
A driver, a man aged in his 80s, suffered a serious head injury. However, the wound isn’t described a life-changing or life-threatening.
Four people, including two children, were taken to the taken to hospital as a precaution, according to Wiltshire Police.
South Western Ambulance Service said that three of those injured were taken to Salisbury District Hospital in a lane ambulance, while the air ambulance turned to base.
No arrests were made in connection with the crash, a force spokesperson added.
