Six fire crews were sent to tackle a blaze on Salisbury Plain after it spread outside of the impact area – taking hold of nearby farmland.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) previously said firefighters were unable to fight the flames on Friday morning (3 July), but that soon changed.
As the fire spread to adjacent farmland and away from the impact area, where there is a risk of unexploded munitions, local crews were sent to assist the military.

Residents in the Netheravon, Amesbury and Larkhill areas are widely affected by a smoke plume, with the fire located around six miles west of Enford.
DWFRS confirmed that fire crews from Amesbury, Salisbury, Ludgershall and Devizes initially attended, alongside a water carrier from Andover.
Further crews from Melksham and Chippenham, along with a water carrier from Wilton, were mobilised to provide relief to the teams on scene – with all leaving by 9pm.
The military monitored the fire overnight, with 4×4 appliances from Cranborne and Ludgershall fire stations returning on Saturday (4 July) to deal with remaining hotspots.
