A ‘dangerous’ sex offender has been jailed for photographing a child he sexually abused.
Scott Terry, formerly known as Scott McGurk, was arrested back in February 2024, after he was found to be in possession of indecent images – some of a victim known to him.
Following the examination of his devices, he was further arrested and then charged with making indecent images of children across all three categories of severity.
The 34-year-old was also charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child and two counts of taking indecent images of children.
The defendant, of Springfield Crescent, Royal Wootton Bassett, was remanded in custody – and subsequently pleaded guilty to the offences.
At Swindon Crown Court on 26 September, he was jailed for four years.
He was also made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and must register as a sex offender for life.
Detective Constable Jason Walsh of the Child Internet Exploitation Team said: “This is an abhorrent crime that will have a long-lasting effect on the victim.
“No one should have to go through what they have been through.
“Protecting the most vulnerable in our communities will always remain our highest priority and safeguarding those from people like Scott Terry.
“When you report these crimes, you will be listened to, you will be believed, and we will do all we can to hold these dangerous individuals accountable for their actions.”
