A man who kept thousands of child abuse images is ‘looking for friends and dating’ – posting his face in a Facebook group with over 100,000 members.
Robert Hamilton, from Coronation Road in Wroughton, was sentenced for being in possession of 2,691 indecent images of children back in May this year.
The 57-year-old avoided a prison sentence for his vile crimes, instead being ordered to complete a community order with an unpaid work requirement.
The defendant was also told to register as a sex offender for five years and comply with the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
At the weekend, an eagle eyed Wiltshire resident spotted that Hamilton had posted in the ‘Friends Dating and Banter’ group on Facebook – wich has 127,000 members.
The brazen criminal’s public post, which included a selfie with the caption “Hi im Rob 57 from swindon.”, had friendly responses before it was deleted today (Wednesday).
The prohibitions listed on his SHPO do not prohibit the use of social media, but it does ban the use of alisies and new digital devices – unless approved by the police prior.
There are also restrictions on being unsupervised with children under the age of 16.
