A young man has been killed in a single-vehicle crash on the A360 in Wiltshire.
Emergency services were called to the road, which runs through Salisbury Plain, at around 8pm on Wednesday evening (15 October).
The incident involved one car – a Volkswagen Golf – leaving the carriageway between Gore Cross and Tilshead.
The driver, the only occupant, sustained significant injuries.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was deployed, but the team were stood down en route – when they were just miles from arriving at the scene.
A 27-year-old man was pronounced dead and his family have been informed.
A full-scale forensic collision investigation was launched, with police remaining at the crash site overnight. The road reopened at 8am this morning (Thursday).

“We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the A360 near West Lavington last night (15/10).
“Just after 8pm, a VW Golf was travelling northbound near Gore Cross when it left the carriageway.
“Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the single occupant—a 27-year-old man—was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
