Three men have been arrested after a woman was robbed at knifepoint in Swindon.
Armed police swarmed High Street, Old Town, at around 8.30am this morning (Tuesday).
Officers were responding to a report of a woman being threatened with a knife during a robbery near Wood Street.
A police helicopter, deployed from it’s south Wales base, circled the area as firearms officers and a dog unit searched for the knife-wielding suspect.
As police worked to locate those involved, a disorder is believed to have broken out.
One man was arrested on suspicion of robbery while two other men were arrested on suspicion of affray.
One suspect appeared topless, sitting on the floor in cuffs – while the other two were escorted away.
Officers were seen entering a property in the street, which was previously subject to a closure order following concerns about drug use and anti-social behaviour.
High Street was closed in both directions to motorists and pedestrians between Wood Street and Newport Street for around an hour while the incident was dealt with.
