A 12-year-old girl has been arrested after threatening other children with a knife.
Police were called to the serious incident at the play area on Walnut Tree Field in Fairford, near Swindon, on Saturday evening (3 October).
Gloucestershire Constabulary confirmed that officers responded to reports of a “girl armed with a kitchen knife was threatening other children” at around 6pm.
Officers attended the scene and arrested the girl, seizing the knife. Nobody was physically harmed during the incident.
However, due to the suspect’s young age, officers decided to de-arrest her rather than take her into police custody.
She was released into the care of her parents overnight.
A spokesperson for the force confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing.
The girl is expected to be interviewed voluntarily by officers in due course.
