Wiltshire Police has been represented at the Royal Windsor Horse Show for the first time, with the team finishing 12th in a national competition.

Three staff members took part in the Services Team jumping event at the show last weekend. It was held in the private grounds of Windsor Castle.

The team included PC Laura Hughes from the Local Policing Tasking Team, Financial Investigator Hollie Clark, and Rachael Fairbain from the Complex Fraud unit.

They competed against 18 other teams from police forces and military units across the UK.

Corgary Shadow jumped a fast, clear round and placed third out of 54 individual starters. Pembrook Hollywood had four faults after tipping a pole. Dunmaynor Star started smoothly but struggled at a double jump.

Hollie Clark said: “I am so proud of the team and the way the horses coped in the electric atmosphere.

“It makes you feel incredibly humble taking part in the parade of teams from across the services, including the Army, RAF and Navy, in front of the crowds.

“Corgary Shadow produced a fast, clear round to finish 3rd of 54 starters.

“Pembrook Hollywood had an unlucky four faults, just tipping a pole, and Dunmaynor Star had a big ask to complete this up-to-height course and jumped smoothly up until fence 7, when the double presented a few issues.

“Regardless of the results, we had a fantastic day and felt proud that we could represent Wiltshire Police.

“Taking part in these sorts of events is an important part of the police collaborating with other forces.”

The Royal Windsor Horse Show is a major annual equestrian event. It takes place in the private grounds of Windsor Castle.

The show features top-level competitions in show jumping, dressage, endurance and driving. It was first held in 1943.

Today, it is one of the UK’s best-known horse shows. It is often attended by members of the Royal Family.

The event also includes arena displays, shopping and family-friendly entertainment.

This was the first time Wiltshire Police had entered a team, marking a proud milestone for the force.
