There’s traffic chaos in Swindon’s Old Town after a two-vehicle crash.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision in Devizes Road at shortly before 5pm this afternoon (Tuesday).
It appears to have involved two black SUVs – one a Range Rover – between Victoria Road and Newport Street.
Several buses are trapped in the road, which is impassable for larger vehicles due to the position of one of the damaged vehicles.
The ambulance services was called for a male casualty, who was treated by firefighters for around 45 minutes ahead of their arrival.
The road is closed from Newport Street in the direction of Victoria Road. The route is open the opposite way, with vehicles able to squeeze past the scene.
In a series of posts on Twitter, Swindon Bus Company said: “Due to an RTC on Devizes Road, service 11, 12 and 22 have been diverted via High Street, Drove Road and Groundwell Road in both directions and will not be able to serve Newport Street, Devizes Road, Prospect, the Brow and Durham Street until further notice.
“Due to the bus being help (sic) up in Devizes Road and unable to turn around, the 17:25 service 12 from GWH to Voyager Drive will not be running. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
