A teenager has been stabbed after being chased through Highworth town centre.
Emergency services rushed to the violent incident in High Street at around 8.30pm last night (Thursday, 15 September).
A teenage boy, rumoured to be 14 years old, was knifed – sustaining serious but not life-threatening injuries.
A crime scene was put in place outside Salam’s Bar and Restaurant, but it was removed less than two hours later.
Police officers were spotted searching the town following the incident, and the National Police Air Support helicopter was called in.
The police chopper circled the town for approximately an hour in hunt of the suspects – said to be weating balaclavas.
Local residents reported seeing a significant police presence in the area – with firearms officers fully kitted up in ballistic helmets and carrying rifles.
Detective Inspector Rachel Hardy said: “It’s vital that we hear from anyone who was in Highworth High Street last night at the time of the incident. The young victim is lucky not to have sustained very serious injuries.
“We are asking anyone who was driving through the area of High Street and Swindon Street at the time to contact us if you have dash cam footage you can share.
“It is likely that someone knows about who was involved in the incident and we would urge them to come forward with the information.”
