Serious incident just outside Wiltshire closes M4 both directions

A serious incident just outside Wiltshire has closed the M4 in both directions.

Emergency services were called to the scene  between junctions 15 (Swindon) and 14 (Hungerford) at around 9.15pm on Sunday evening (7 January).

The road is expected to remain closed during rush hour this morning (Monday).

A spokesperson for National Highways said: “At approximately 21:46 we were advised of a serious incident resulting in the closure of the M4 in both directions between J15 and J14.

“Thames Valley Police are leading a multi agency response to the incident.

”National Highways resources are providing assistance with traffic management.

“Due to the serious nature of the incident the road is expected to remain closed through the night.”
