Police have increased patrols over concerns that drivers are ignoring no entry signs.

At the end of March, officers were deployed to deal with motorists who contravene the bus gate rules in Semington, near Melksham.

According to Wiltshire Police, the force has “received numerous reports of drivers not complying” with the no entry signs on Semington Road.

Motorists should be taking the A350 to bypass the village, but some choose to risk a fine and points.

“We have increased patrols of the area and spoken to members of the public regarding the issue”, a spokesperson said.

Adding: “We would like to thank everyone that saw us and took notice of the signs.

“This is a no through road, except buses, please do not drive through. You should be using the A350 as your main route around.

“There are lots of children and families that live in the village making it especially busy around school times. Using this route helps to keep Semington village safer.

“If any signs are obscured or faded, please report it to Wiltshire Council or Highways.”
