Police have been guarding a boat in Devizes after a woman was injured in an assault.
Officers were called to an incident on the Kennet and Avon Canal, outside The Black Horse Inn, at around 10.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, 24 July).
A woman, aged in her 50s, sustained injuries in an attack – and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police remained watching over the boat until around 3pm today (Thursday), with detectives attending to assess the crime scene.
A man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested on suspicion of intentional strangulation, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.
