An investigation is underway after police were called to a Corsham home as a man is heard ‘nearly killing’ a dog.
A neighbour reported the incident after listening to the alarming wails of a dog in a garden in Long Close Avenue on Wednesday evening (3 December).
In a recording heard by Wiltshire 999s, a man shouts “f*** you, shut up” as the pet appears to squeal in pain repeatedly. A number of bangs are also heard.
A second voice says “she’s nearly dead now”, before the man replies “I don’t care, pass her here… she knows the f***ing score”.
The second voice added: “She’s nearly died [name of suspect], I’m not even joking, she’s nearly dead”. Further chatter is heard, but it is hard to make out.
Police officers attended the scene, but it’s understood that the dog was not located. A neighbour says the dog has since disappeared.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed that they received a report “regarding concerns for the welfare of dogs at a property in Long Close Avenue”.
They added that officers “attended the address and liaised with our dog unit” and an investigation into what happened is ongoing.
The RSPCA has also been informed and an investigation is underway.
