Police have made an arrest after man was attacked in Swindon town centre.

Emergency services were called to reports of a serious assault outside Greggs in The Parade at around 1.25pm this afternoon (Wednesday).

Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance landed in GWR Park in Faringdon Road, moments before the onboard critical care medics were driven to the scene.

A man, aged in his 60s, was treated for serious injuries to his leg and ankle. He was rushed to hospital for treatment.

According to a witness, he was pushed over during an altercation involving a homeless man.

“He has been taken into custody for questioning.
