A man has been arrested following a road traffic collision on the A420 in Chippenham.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Bristol Road, near Hathaway Medical Centre, at around 8pm this evening (Friday 18 November).
A white Volkswagen is believed to have struck a male pedestrian – who was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. His wounds are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
The route, between Hungerdown Lane and Bumpers Farm Roundabout, was cordoned off as a crime scene whilst roads policing officers investigated the incident.
Seven police vehicles were present at the scene at the junction for Middlefield Road until about 10.30pm, when recovery was arranged for the vehicles.
At least one male was arrested and placed into the back of a police cell van at the scene – though the offence for which he was arrested is not known at this time.
A BMW also appeared within the cordoned area, though it’s not clear if it was also involved.
Recovery work is expected to be complete by around midnight and following that, the road will be reopened.
Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment.
