A number of notices warning people that a paedophile lives in the area have been discovered on lampposts, fences and gates at a children’s play park in Swindon.

It comes after Pinehurst man, 52-year-old Mark Forte of Cunningham Road, pleaded guilty to encouraging the commission of a child sex offence and distribution of an indecent image of a child.

The unofficial notices, which state: “Warning! A convicted paedophile is living in this area”, are believed to have first appeared around the play area and baseball court between Tovey Road and Pinehurst Road last week. They feature the sex offender’s name, address and vehicle*.

A QR code on the sign provides a link to the Swindon Advertiser website where people can read more about this recent conviction at Swindon Crown Court. He’s due to be sentenced in October.

Cunningham Road is 160 metres (0.1 miles) from the play park and approximately 950 metres (0.6 miles) from secondary school Swindon Academy and St Mary’s Catholic Primary School.

*Forte’s house number, vehicle type and registration have been censored for the protection of any innocent parties associated with the address or vehicle.
