Nobody turned up for two UK Mass Gathering anti-lockdown events in Swindon this afternoon.
A small number of community support officers and police officers were out patrolling Coate Water Country Park and Lawn Woods following the lockdown protest being promoted on social media.
But neither event attracted any form of gathering. Families enjoyed picnics and locals continued to use the parks for exercise with no sign of trouble.
As hundreds gathered in Hyde Park, London, at midday, in other areas — including Bristol and the Isle of Wight — mass gatherings failed to attract any crowds at all.
Earlier this week, the Chief Constable of Wiltshire Police said an event on this scale would be a ” flagrant breach of the regulations” and put “unnecessary strain on all emergency services and the NHS”.
