A national manhunt is underway after an attempted murderer disappeared from prison.
Kieran Cameron carried out a brutal knife assault on his victim in Poole, Dorset, back in 2016 – and is currently serving a 23-year sentence behind bars.
The 43-year-old was reported missing from HMP Thorn Cross, a Cat D open prison, in Warrington at 9.20pm on Tuesday (6 January).
It comes just eight days after murderer Matthew Armstrong and violent criminal Daniel Washbourne absconded from HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire. The pair have since been arrested following searches by multiple police forces.
Now, officers are looking for Cameron, who is described as white, around 5’ 6” tall, of medium build, with heavily receding hair and a ginger and grey beard.
He is known to have extensive links to Manchester, Liverpool and Dorset – but could be anywhere in the country.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Henderson, of the Serious and Organised Crime Unit at Cheshire Police, said: “We are appealing for the help of the public to trace Kieran Cameron, who is unlawfully at large after leaving HMP Thorn Cross in Warrington.
“If you see him, do not approach him, call 999 immediately.
“If you have any information as to where Cameron may be, please call 101 or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us quoting IML 2247029.”
