An 18-year-old has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a serious crash in Wiltshire.

Emergency crews responded to the incident on the A3102 at approximately 10pm last night (Tuesday 31 January).

A vehicle, reportedly containing four young men, veered off the road and hit a tree on South View, Lyneham.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, sustained what police describe as “potentially life-changing injuries”.

The smash happened near the Welcome to Lyneham sign

He was treated by Wiltshire Air Ambulance medics at the scene and taken to hospital by land ambulance a short time later.

The other occupants of the vehicle are not believed to have suffered any notable injuries.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it sent two crews from Royal Wootton Bassett and Calne to the serious road traffic collision.

Firefighters “cut free one male casualty” and were in attendance for around an hour.

The road was closed in both directions until around 3am whilst investigation and recovery work was undertaken.
