A man has been named and charged following an alleged machete incident in Wiltshire.
Police were called to reports of a man allegedly in possession of a machete in Salisbury city centre in the early hours of 8 August.
PC Munns and PC Taylor responded to the incident and made their way to the scene, where officers identified a man shortly after arriving.
Wiltshire Police said the suspect then ran from officers, prompting a foot chase through the area.
PC Heath pursued the man and he was detained a short time later before being arrested.
During the incident, PC Brown located what police described as the weapon inside a backpack and he was arrested.
Carlyle Anderson, of Woodside Road, Bemerton Heath, has since been charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place.
The 23-year-old suspect has been released on bail and is due to appear before Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on 9 November.
Following the incident, Wiltshire Police said: “There is no place for knives and bladed articles on our streets.”
