Wiltshire Police’s Horizon Victim Unit has received a High Sheriff Award in recognition of its work supporting victims and witnesses across Swindon and Wiltshire.
The team provides support to people from the initial reporting of a crime through investigations and court proceedings, helping them stay informed and access the assistance they need.
During 2025, the unit provided enhanced support to more than 9,700 victims and helped around 10,000 victims and witnesses navigate the court process.
Its work includes offering reassurance, connecting people with specialist support services and guiding victims and witnesses through the criminal justice system.
The team also helps people access restorative justice, which can provide an opportunity to address the impact of crime.
Julia Gay, Head of Victim Services, said: “Every day, my remarkable team makes a difference to the lives of people who are often experiencing trauma, uncertainty and vulnerability.
“They provide not only practical support and guidance, but also compassion, reassurance and understanding when it is needed most.”
The award recognises the dedication and professionalism of the Horizon team in supporting people affected by crime across Swindon and Wiltshire.
